Improvisation builds ConfidenceTaking an improv course or having professionals come directly to your company builds confidence. The people I know who have taken improvisational theatre or comedy courses have a new found confidence in front of others. They don't take mistakes that seriously and have found the ability to move on sooner. A few times, up in front of others, aiming to make a clear and coherent story forces you to be more in the moment and less in your head. An amazing thing then happens. Although you still care about what the audience thinks, what they think and how they are reacting to you is not absorbing all of your attention. In others words, you are not splitting your attention between the task at hand (the scene) and your audience. When you split your attention in this way, you lose your composure, you lose your confidence and you lose your audience (customer). There are no comments attached to this item.
